Most patients desire natural appearing results rather than a surgical appearance. Dr.Ronan utilizes modern techniques and minimally invasive procedures in order to provide refreshed and natural appearances.
The process begins with a consultation or information visit. Dr. Ronan’s consultations tend to be lengthy. After he elicits the goals and desires of the patient and conducts a focused history and exam, Dr. Ronan reviews the options available. Risks of the particular procedure are discussed in great detail. Realistic expectations are discussed and before/after photos of actual patients are reviewed. All of your questions are answered. At the conclusion of the visit, you will review a quotation with the patient coordinator. The goal of the consultation is to provide the patient with more than enough information to make a good decision about the procedure(s).
Prior to surgery, a pre-operative, or ‘nuts and bolts,’ appointment is made. During this visit, the procedure is again reviewed and questions are answered. We will review your medical history and complete a more thorough physical exam. Appropriate lab tests and/or an EKG may be performed. Necessary paperwork is completed and photo documentation is completed. Pre- and post-operative instructions are reviewed, etc.
The process doesn’t end with surgery. Patients are carefully followed in the post-operative period. After recovery, patients can return for a lifetime of follow-up.
Patients feel both comfortable and secure knowing that they are in Dr. Ronan’s gifted hands. Explore the possibility of sculpting a new you.
Face lifts are designed to reduce the slackness in the tissues of the face; a face lift tightens or excises muscle, fat and skin, producing a more youthful, rested appearance. Generally speaking, face lift procedures only address the two-thirds of the face, although a surgery can combine both face lift and eyelid surgery or brow lift.
For individuals interested in reducing sagging in the facial area, face lifts may be the best way to address the problem. For many patients, the key issues corrected by face lift surgery include sagging jowls, loose neck skin, and fat accumulation under the chin (double chin). Face lifts work in essentially the same manner, although there are some variations in face lift techniques, depending upon the specific individual facial constructions, and the intended outcome of the face lift surgery.
Blepharoplasty creates a more well-rested appearance and can correct problems related to aging. Some Blepharoplasty patients are attempting to combat inherited traits, such as chronic dark circles, or excess skin. Occasionally, Blepharoplasty is performed in conjunction with another treatment to provide optimal results.
Prior to undergoing Blepharoplasty, the patient should discuss in detail with the plastic surgeon scheduled to perform their Blepharoplasty their expectations for the outcome of the surgery, their medical history prior to this Blepharoplasty, any types of eye conditions, etc. Once the surgeon knows all the individual factors of your Blepharoplasty, they can come up with a list of the possible options that fit your needs. During the Blepharoplasty, the surgeon makes an incision later hidden by the eyelashes or the natural skin fold following Blepharoplasty. Excess skin and fatty tissue are removed through this incision, which should heal well after Blepharoplasty, leaving little or no visible scar. If the surgeon performs a lower Blepharoplasty, fat may be redistributed to create a more even appearance, and excess tissue is removed. Blepharoplasty recovery times can vary by individual, taking up to weeks or months following the Blepharoplasty for the scarring to completely fade, although swelling and bruising from Blepharoplasty should fade in considerably less time and the end results are long-lasting.
Brow lifts combat the signs of aging, decrease frown lines, and raise naturally low or "heavy" brows. Brow lift surgery works by removing muscles and tissues that cause the brow to droop, allowing the brow lift to create a smoother looking forehead.
An incision behind the hairline allows the brow lift surgeon to avoid permanent visible scarring as a result of the brow lift. The surgeon then removes the necessary tissue, sometimes using an endoscope (small camera) to avoid brow lift scarring. Aside from scarring, there are a few other side effects that could result from brow lift surgery. As with any surgery, infection is always a risk, and nerve damage from brow lifts can cause an inability of the individual to control eyebrow movement or wrinkle the forehead. Brow lift complications, however, are extremely rare, and most often can be corrected surgically.
Otoplasty, commonly referred to as ear pinning, corrects the size or placement of an individual's ears. Otoplasty is generally performed on children ages of 4-14, as the ears finish growing by 4, and otoplasty can prevent adolescent ridicule, but the procedure is also performed on adults upon occasion. Good otoplasty makes the ears more proportional to the size and shape of the head and face.
Rhinoplasty uses surgical techniques to reshape the nose. Relatively low costs and permanent results make rhinoplasty one of the most popular plastic surgeries performed in the United States every year.
Rhinoplasty allows patients the opportunity to reshape their noses to a more pleasing appearance, but some rhinoplasty procedures can also reconstruct the nasal passages to improve breathing. Individuals who are considering undergoing a rhinoplasty procedure should have a clear idea of the results that they want, while understanding that rhinoplasty surgery has limitations. A consultation with a plastic surgeon will help prospective patients understand rhinoplasty surgery, and determine whether they are suitable candidates for the procedure. Among the factors a rhinoplasty surgeon takes into account are skin type and the size and shape of the nose. Rhinoplasty candidates also undergo an examination of the internal nasal structure, and procedures other than rhinoplasty may be suggested to create or maintain a harmonious balance among the various facial structures. Rhinoplasty patients may benefit from chin surgery, for instance. Patients who are determined to be good rhinoplasty candidates will then develop an individualized surgical plan and set a date for the rhinoplasty.
