Blackhawk Plastic Surgery, founded by Stephen J Ronan MD, is dedicated to helping you feel and look your best. We strive to provide excellent care with close personal attention. Dr. Ronan is Certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. He operates in a certified operating room and uses a Board Certified Anesthesiologist.

Most patients desire natural appearing results rather than a surgical appearance. Dr.Ronan utilizes modern techniques and minimally invasive procedures in order to provide refreshed and natural appearances.

The process begins with a consultation or information visit. Dr. Ronan’s consultations tend to be lengthy. After he elicits the goals and desires of the patient and conducts a focused history and exam, Dr. Ronan reviews the options available. Risks of the particular procedure are discussed in great detail. Realistic expectations are discussed and before/after photos of actual patients are reviewed. All of your questions are answered. At the conclusion of the visit, you will review a quotation with the patient coordinator. The goal of the consultation is to provide the patient with more than enough information to make a good decision about the procedure(s).

Prior to surgery, a pre-operative, or ‘nuts and bolts,’ appointment is made. During this visit, the procedure is again reviewed and questions are answered. We will review your medical history and complete a more thorough physical exam. Appropriate lab tests and/or an EKG may be performed. Necessary paperwork is completed and photo documentation is completed. Pre- and post-operative instructions are reviewed, etc.

The process doesn’t end with surgery. Patients are carefully followed in the post-operative period. After recovery, patients can return for a lifetime of follow-up.

Patients feel both comfortable and secure knowing that they are in Dr. Ronan’s gifted hands. Explore the possibility of sculpting a new you.

Stomach liposuction uses suction to remove fat and reshape the contours of the abdominal area. Stomach liposuction is the most frequently performed liposuction, equally popular with men and women.

Stomach liposuction can remove fat from the upper or lower abdominal region, or the entire area. Tumescent stomach liposuction allows large areas to be treated without significant invasion, using small instruments called cannelas. Tumescent stomach liposuction usually requires only a local anesthetic, greatly reducing side effects and risks, and many stomach liposuction patients have found that they need take nothing stronger than Tylenol following their stomach liposuction.

Neck liposuction can help doctors remove excess fat and skin, and can also help tighten sagging skin. Neck liposuction reduces fullness in the neck and can correct sagging tissues due to heredity or aging.

Neck liposuction involves small incisions made behind the ears, like those made for a facelift, allowing the neck liposuction surgeon to lift and remove excess skin following the procedure. The surgeon performing the neck liposuction uses a thin "wand" called a cannula to suction out the fat, and some neck liposuctions tighten the skin using a laser from inside the incision, preventing sagging in areas that neck liposuction has been used to remove fat.

Tummy tucks, scientifically referred to as abdominoplasty, flattens the stomach by tightening the abdominal muscles. Tummy tucks also reduce loose abdominal skin and fat. The candidates who investigate tummy tucks are generally persons whose stomachs were weakened by pregnancy, substantial weight loss, or hereditary factors.

Tummy tucks usually make use of a horizontal incision just above the pubic area, with the length of the tummy tuck incision depending upon the amount of skin that will be removed. In some cases, the tummy tuck candidate will have excess skin above the navel, requiring an incision around the navel. Often, tummy tucks can help eradicate stretch marks in the treated area, but dramatic changes shouldn't be expected; tummy tucks usually only eliminate those stretch marks that are actually removed with the excess skin. After tummy tuck surgery, patients are advised to avoid sitting for long periods of time. Many of the tummy tuck discomforts, such as bruising and swelling will fade over the next weeks and months. The tummy tuck scars from the incisions will remain visible, although usually concealed by clothing.
